At the heart of the oldest forests in central France, often composed of centuries-old oaks, lies the starting point of our quality chain. Depending on the evolution of the forest domain, only the National Forestry Office determines the lots that are put up for sale every year, chosen on foot by a handful of stave makers.
Our partnerships are based on the quality and recognition of the added value of each of our stave makers. We express a clear and targeted need through a precise and exhaustive specification regarding the wood pieces called staves used in the production of our barrels.
Attention
to the material
The particular attention given to the material is decisive in the consistency of our production and in respecting the wine and the winemaker.
Our staves undergo numerous checks, from their selection by our suppliers to their entry into our workshops, including the drying phase.
The natural drying of the wood
In a process where every gesture, every decision is the result of years of experience, exchanges, and sharing, a part is still left to chance. To preserve this noble raw material to the end and stay in harmony with nature that entrusts it to our care, we develop a culture and method of drying the staves that leaves room for the work of time (16 to 24 months) and the will of the elements.
The wood
preparers
Our wood preparation team plays a crucial and decisive role in our production process. They are the guarantors of the quality of the raw material but also of its maximization as the resource becomes increasingly rare and precious.
Their ‘eye,’ their extensive knowledge, and their deep understanding of oak minimize the risk of intrinsic defects in the barrel.
Nature is respected by paying the utmost attention.
